When we look for new employees, we look for energetic personnel who are willing to learn anything put in front of them. Our team has also been hand selected to ensure compatibility among employees so that events flow smoothly. We have provided you with a sample below, showcasing some of our highly talented staff.
Founder and President
Karl is the founder and president of Pulse Entertainment, the leading wedding DJ service company in Northern Virginia. Karl is a Washington, D.C. area native and wanted to be a DJ from a very young age. Karl founded Pulse Entertainment in 2008 after he successfully founded and ran a local terrestrial radio station here in the D.C. area for many years. Karl saw a need for a local DJ company that focused on providing outstanding customer service and set out to build his vision. As the president, Karl oversees daily management to ensure the team is working together smoothly, is responsible for the majority of sales for new customers, and also serves as a DJ/emcee almost every weekend. In his spare time, Karl loves cooking/baking and is often hosting dinner parties for friends and family. Karl is also an avid singer and sailor (usually not at the same time though).
DJ/Emcee
CJ joined Pulse in September of 2008. When Karl (our founder) and CJ met, Karl knew next to nothing about how to get started as a wedding DJ, and as a DJ with several years of experience himself, CJ taught Karl everything Karl needed to start Pulse Entertainment. CJ has played a major role in helping to build Pulse Entertainment into what it is today and wears many hats in the company. CJ holds a Communications degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Digital Communications & Programming Logic degree from the New Hampshire Community Technical College. Prior to joining Pulse, CJ worked as a board operator and web director for 92.1FM WPTS Pittsburgh. In his spare time, CJ enjoys spending time with his wife, Andrea, and their dog, Sassy (a black lab if you’re curious).
DJ/Emcee
Michael joined Pulse in March of 2014. Michael has been DJing at parties and clubs in the Washington, D.C. area for almost 20 years and he has a wealth of knowledge DJing on vinyl since computers weren’t exactly a thing when he first became a DJ! Michael is well known among DJs in the area and has DJd at almost every major club in the city. As one of our DJs, he is responsible for performing at various weddings throughout the year and also performs at our school events and birthday parties. His primary expertise lies in getting crowds engaged through incredible song selection and music mixing! In addition to working for Pulse, Michael is a resident DJ for several bars/clubs in the D.C. metro area.
DJ/Emcee
Ben joined Pulse in September of 2014. Ben is fascinated by audio/visual equipment and has a passion for operating anything from a small band or DJ setup all the way through a large concert venue’s control systems. As an event technician, he is responsible for managing the technical operations during many weddings and corporate events. He has had many years of experience in the A/V industry and loves his job! Ben holds an Audio Production degree with a Computer Science Minor from American University. Prior to joining Pulse, Ben worked for various concert venues, concert groups, radio stations, recording studios, and production companies across the United States. In his spare time, Ben enjoys repairing A/V related equipment.
DJ/Emcee
David joined Pulse in April of 2013. David was referred to us by one of our recommended wedding vendors. We originally reached out to him when our company was much smaller and needed a fill in DJ for one of our other DJs who became ill at the last minute before a wedding. David stepped up to the plate and impressed us so much at that first wedding that we wanted him to be officially part of our team! As one of our DJs, he is responsible for managing many weddings and corporate events, as well as performing at the actual events themselves as a DJ and emcee. In his spare time, David is a real estate agent and likes to help first time home buyers.
Event Technician/Marketing
Megan joined Pulse in February of 2015. Megan is incredibly passionate about music and has a love for interacting with people. As an event technician, she is responsible for the operational processes and running A/V equipment during events. Megan is also responsible for assisting our sales team with potential customers and on-boarding new clients. In her spare time, Megan enjoys playing with her cat (Wilson) and volunteering at the local animal shelter. Megan is also a rugby enthusiast and plays the sport recreationally.
Event Technician/Marketing
Dani joined Pulse in May of 2014. Dani is quite the perfectionist and has a love for making every detail of every project perfect for the client. As an event technician, she is responsible for operating equipment and managing/planning/coordinating events. Dani also assists our sales team during busy seasons and is an account manager. Dani is experienced in photography, videography, lighting, graphic design, and business management. Dani holds a Management Information Systems degree from the University of Alabama. Prior to joining Pulse, Dani worked as an event coordinator and public relations officer for a local nonprofit organization. In her spare time, Dani also works as a freelance graphic designer creating logos and other marketing material.
Event Technician/Administrative Support
Dean joined Pulse in December of 2013. Dean is incredibly motivated and goal oriented, and pays huge attention to detail. As an event technician, he is responsible for setting up A/V equipment at weddings and other events. Dean also assists with administrative tasks in our office and helps plan/coordinate timelines and music for events. Prior to joining Pulse, Dean worked as an assistant program director for a local nonprofit organization that repaired computers for low income families. In his spare time, Dean studies computer programming.
Event Technician/Administrative Support
Bryan joined Pulse in February of 2013. Very level-headed, he is highly skilled at handling high stress situations and can think through any amount of complexity. He is our go-to person when things aren’t going according to plan and we need to get back on track ASAP. As an event technician, Bryan is responsible for our more advanced lighting jobs where multiple types of lighting are requested and a dedicated lighting operator is required. Bryan also assists with administrative tasks in our office and helps plan/coordinate timelines and music for events. Bryan has spent most of his career in the A/V industry and has gained a wealth of knowledge over the years. Prior to joining Pulse, Bryan worked as a board operator for a local television station. He is also currently a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and firefighter.
Event Technician
Shakora joined Pulse in June of 2014. She was originally hired as a door greeter/concierge when our company provided a broader range of services including hospitality offerings for events. Shakora has an amazing personality and befriends everyone she comes into contact with. We quickly realized that her skills were broader though and offered her a bigger role in assisting with coordination, planning, and equipment setup at weddings and other events. Shakora is dedicated and loyal to Pulse, and always puts our clients first, going above and beyond to achieve this. Prior to joining Pulse, Shakora worked as a teaching assistant and in-home care specialist for special needs children. In her spare time, Shakora loves to go on long hikes and explore nature.
Event Technician
Josh joined Pulse in March of 2013. He has always been the life of the party and loves to entertain and engage his audience. Josh is incredibly driven and confident which helps him be a role model for our newer employees. As an event technician, he is responsible for managing the lighting and other A/V equipment during weddings and events, and also acts as an emcee thanks to his outgoing personality. Prior to joining Pulse, Josh worked as an A/V technician for a local school system and was in charge of managing a team of multiple people to operate theater equipment and A/V for large presentations. In his spare time, Josh is a computer programmer and studies Internet security.
Graphic Designer/Photographer
Justin joined Pulse in February of 2010. He has had a strong passion for design and art since childhood, whether it be drawing, painting, or photography. As a graphic designer and photographer, Justin is responsible for working with our clients to ensure perfection from start to finish, including all photography, photo editing, monogram design, etc. He is also responsible for promotional photography for events. He is experienced in high level photography and lenses, and various graphic design and photo editing software including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Dreamweaver. Justin is currently in a doctoral program at Tufts University and is studying to become a medical doctor. Prior to joining Pulse, Justin worked as a freelance logo and web designer. In his spare time, Justin ambitiously hikes through difficult terrain, rock climbs, and volunteers as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
Graphic Designer/Videographer
Sudipta joined Pulse in December of 2010. He is incredibly creative and can make amazing products out of nothing! As a videographer, Sudipta is responsible for creating all of our promotional videos and providing clients with custom video productions. He also creates marketing material and is proficient in graphic design. He is experienced in filming, all major editing software such as Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere and After Effects, and Final Cut Pro. Sudipta holds a Computer Science degree from the University of Virginia. Prior to joining Pulse, Sudipta worked as a freelance videographer and video editor. In his spare time, Sudipta loves to cook and try new recipes.
